Note from the drive to Tusayan... On the way north of Flagstaff, we saw so many elk! Since we were driving at night, it was kind of nerve wracking. We even passed an ambulance headed south, and then up the road we saw a van next to a mangled elk. I was freaking out. We decreased our speed & kept our eyes peeled. I hate driving at night.
We woke up at 5:30, packed up, grabbed coffee, and headed off to catch a sunrise at the Grand Canyon. The drive along the south rim was frightening. We are in complete darkness, no other cars around, winding around this massive, looming crevice that we can see glimpses of. Once we found a spot that looked good, with chattering teeth we crept out to the edge of a cliff & waited. It was freezing cold. It was absolutely amazing. And it was really windy. And amazing.
