My running buddy & I had our first destination marathon. It was a beautiful day, perfect weather, perfect atmosphere, lovely course, and a great way to see Portland. The only glitch was that we did not train. We thought about scrapping the whole race. But we knew every time "Portland" or even "Oregon" would be mentioned, we would have overwhelming guilt about that time we signed up for a marathon & never ran it. So we decided to run it, but with a different goal. The only goal we set was to have fun. We joked and said we were just doing a "walking tour", to take the pressure of meeting a certain time goal on the race. Guess what? It was a really fun race! It was a great way to see the city, spend time together, & burn a few calories. We were pretty sore the next day, but learned to silence our perfectionistic tendencies & to do something, even if you cannot do it perfectly.

Our "throw away" Goodwill hoodies. Thank you Smuckers Dance Team for the cozy sweatshirts.
How many often can you stop in the middle of a marathon & take a photo with a pirate?

A huge thanks to our wonderful chaffeur, cheer leader & camera-man!
